  • I thought I did really well at the Next sale yesterday getting DH a short sleeved shirt for £12 reduced from £30, only two find he’s got two similar ones in his wardrobe when I got home! He doesn’t have lots of clothes so I don’t know how I forgot about them, I’ll have to take it back at the weekend.

A new Aldi has been built around the corner from my estate, that opens on Thursday so I’m excited to see what they have.

I saw Tesco have Terry’s chocolate oranges on offer for £1, I did pop in to get one this morning but they didn’t have any so I’ll have to try again.

Coxy well done on the new job, that must be a relief for you and great that it is easier to get to.

Sammy gosh what a worrying time for you, I am sorry to hear about all of these illnesses. My mum had tonsil cancer (who knew that was a thing?) and she had to have radiation therapy which made her really poorly, then my dad got really poorly when she was having that and was in and out of hospital at the same time so I know how stressful it is. I hope they are through the worst of it now and you can take a bit of time for you. I like the sound of finding pretty containers to make candles in.

Spendless the tins are lovely though so I don’t think anyone wouldn’t like receiving one, plus I was thinking they would make quite a nice display if you had a few of them. I hope you find the M&S gift card soon!

Princesskitty shame about the shirt as that was a good deal but if he doesn't really need it better to get a refund and use the money for something else.
Is the aldi doing any opening day offers? definitely handy having one close by my local one is a bit of a trek and not on a bus route so being a non driverI don't get there as often as I'd like
Thanks for the heads up re the choc oranges at tesco -hopefully they'll have some in stock when I go at the weekend.

M&S apparently aren't doing the light up gin bottles this year so dd needs to try and find an alternative for her Bf mum as when they'd talked about xmas presents for this year that's what she'd asked for as she really liked the one they got her last year.

I just need it to be payday 😂😂
I have five things favourited for OH on Vinted (2 x Boss polos, a box of Boss boxers, a pair of Jack Wills jeans and a pair of Abercrombie and Fitch jeans. All BNWT) and I’m just hoping and praying nothing sells before tomorrow afternoon when I get paid (I love Monzo ❤️😂)
Also just been on the Boots website and reconfigured my plans for the pressies I’m buying from their Xmas selection, which I’m going for on Monday when I’m in Liverpool. FCUK stuff is half price and their selection is really good this year!
After that I won’t be buying anything else until December when I’m off to Dublin and everything remaining will be bought in one fell swoop.

MrsRyan  you can get some great bargains on vinted but the good stuff does sell quickly fingers crossed nothing sells before payday.  I've sold some bits on there so keep a balance just in case I see anything.

Theworks have a beast quest 15 book box set down to bargain £6 online next cheapest I could find was £18 ordered 1 for taz and another for the donations box  https://www.theworks.co.uk/p/myths-and-legends/beast-quest-ice-and-fire-15-book-collection/9781408369050.html

Blimey Beast Quest...that takes me back! DS1 was obsessed with BQ and 'dressed up' (I use that term very loosely) as Tom for a few book days at school. He's now 24 and getting married next year!

Good luck with your Vinted purchased @MrsRyan - keeping everything crossed for you!

Have found a book for FIL and another for BIL on the big river site. Have also found some bedding sets for younger two nephews - one dinosaurs the other Star Wars. Have put all into my basket. Just waiting for another £20 gift card to become available on Shoppix and that will be £40 towards the purchase.

Have decided to get DS2 some AirPods for Christmas. Will probably order from JL and get them delivered to our local Wa!trose. He also likes his music and there's a shop on Etsy where you can get lyrics in a poster so that's another idea for him.

Saw that M&S have their food to order brochure out if anyone's interested. And my Tesco have started putting out the Christmas chocolate - half an aisle's worth on Tuesday (seasonal aisle).

  • I popped to Tesco and managed to get a chocolate orange for £1, I also bought one for the food bank as I usually buy one item a week and I read somewhere it helps them plan if they get seasonal items early. The large bags of Twirl Bites were back on offer so I got a bag for DH for Christmas as they’re his favourite.

Our new Aldi opened this morning at 8am, I was on the school run, it would be interesting to see what time people turned up! I don’t think I’m going to go today as I’m sure it will be really busy, I’m away in Brighton with friends over the weekend so I’ll pop there next week sometime and check it out.

I’m really looking forward to my trip to Brighton this weekend, this will be only the second time in 9 years that I have had an entire day to myself, usually if I’m away I only go for one night so am back with the family the next day. We’re going for two nights so I have the whole of Saturday to myself!! Well I’ll obviously be with friends but they won’t be bugging me to play Minecraft/football or asking for a snack every two minutes!  :D

mandco I don’t know about any specific offers at our Aldi opening other than the first 60 customers got a free fruit and veg bag. That’s a shame M&S aren’t doing the light up gin bottles this year, I thought they were really popular last year. I have never heard of Beast Quest – it’s all Minecraft and football in my house! A good bargain for you though.

Coxy it's amazing how things last the test of time through generations of children.

Oh enjoy your time in Brighton @princesskitty29. DD just finished her degree there so we went fairly often. They have an Aldi if you want to use some of your free time there (jk......)

I just popped out to buy a 1st class stamp for DIL2B's birthday card - hoping it gets there for Sunday. I ordered her a giftcard from local shopping mall yesterday to be tracked and delivered to her door. Hoping that too turns up in time as bizarrely it went through some kind of payment check overnight. She also has a Galaxy hamper arriving today or tomorrow.

Whilst I was out I popped to Sainsbobs for milk and they had their Habitat room fragrances on offer - diffusers and candles of various sizes. I got two of the large jar candles - Spa Day and Pomegranate and Fig - £7.99 each reduced from £12.99. These will go to my two SILs for Christmas.

The one who is poorly will also get the cat mug and I may pop in some nice coffee too (don't want to put anything foodie with the gift as she may find it triggering, plus she hates chocolate!?). BIL will get a book - !!!!!! Proenneke's One Man's Wilderness plus some ale.

My other SIL will get the candle and the Henrietta Lacks book (she's a nurse and think she will find this interesting). Will order Anthony Bourdain's Chef Confidential for BIL (who is a chef!) and also get him some ale or port.

Will get FIL a book - The Boys in the Boat, and MIL another book An Almost Impossible Thing - both true stories. Will also get chocs or biscuits plus a voucher for a cream team or similar.

So that leaves the older nieces and nephews to buy for, plus my own children. Getting there....slowly.....

I bought Nan the t-bag light up tin from M&S. £15 left on the giftcard. I need to think through what I'm doing about biscuits and  then she can be crossed off the list.
  • Morning all. Hope you are all well. I think I will be glad to see the back of September as it’s been a crap month. My Auntie died last weekend. Her funeral is not until 10th Nov.

My Mom said to me a few days ago “don’t worry about buying for Christmas”. She usually gives us some money and a bottle of drink. She always insists on buying us each a tub of chocolates (there’s 4 of us). I can’t remember what year it was but she gave us 4 boxes of mince pies. I ended up putting 2 boxes in the food bank trolley in Asda. I class my Mom as a “feeder”, as she’s diabetic and not supposed to eat all that stuff, so she buys it for us instead. Not helpful when you want to lose weight. I used to go to SW but had to stop as I felt I was just wasting my money as the group wasn’t benefiting me in any way.

Sorry to be so negative about my Mom, but it riles me that she insists on buying us so much food. I almost forgot about the boxes of M&S biscuits as well!

It’s my Dad’s birthday next week, he’s 75. I always struggle with presents for them, as they don’t have any hobbies or read books. Don’t do anything basically. 😀. I may get my Dad a dining out card or something.

    Speak soon. xx
