Morrisons worked out the best value for the time the lasted compared to cost. They tested some lithium ones which lasted twice as long but cost over three times as much.

Strange that they don't seem to say what size of battery they were testing!

Can't help thinking that in most cases rechargeables would be a much better bet anyway.

i personally would buy the 15 pack (AA or AAA) of Kodak or Hyundai batteries for £1 all of them will cost half as much a 4pack Duracell/Energizer (and that £1.99 when they are on offer) and put together will last much much much longer.

My digital camera doesn't take more than half a dozen shots on standard batteries.... regardless of brand!

Rechargeables all the way for me!

For those looking at rechargeables I've found Fameart to be very reliable and long lasting. Beware of most budget rechargeables though, Poundland, Lidl and Aldi brands are almost as poor as standard batteries.

Agree! Digital cameras imho completely kill alkaline batteries but run fine for a decent amount of time on rechargables! I think the test may be somewhat self defeating because you do have to think about getting the right battery for the job in hand!

I been using rechargeables since the early 80's and have since 2000 used NimH batteries. I tend to go for 2000+ Mah ratings or greater, 7dayshop are a good source of cheap batteries but bare in mind that postages inst cheap now (used to be 99p) so I tend to make a large order.

Wilkinson's (www.wilkinsonplus.com) are selling 2 x Energizer Ultimate Lithiums for £1.99 a pack, which will then put them at just over 28p per hour :j
