I had solar installed at the end of October. Was quoted with one 6.5kWh battery, but paid an extra £2200 for an additional 6.5kwh battery. Ours is an AC coupled.
We use roughly 10kWh per day, so having 13kWh batteries (11.70kWh useable) is ideal for us. We charge up overnight to 100% on the Octopus Go tariff. It's then topped up during the day via the Solar PV. Come the spring we will change to the Eco7 tariff.
Thank you that is a good point - I had a look on the Bright app, and we have been using 5-7 kWh per day lately.

It will be less in summer time due to more solar generation available, and no need for the gas central heater (surprisingly ours is using a good amount of electricity to move the warm air around)

£2200 for a 6.5kwh sounds a good price. I've been looking at solaredge 10kwh battery and some websites cost it at £7000 ouch.
A Pylontech US5000 with a Sofar ME3000 inverter would cost around £2800. That should be sufficient for your 5-7kWh/day with a bit of load shifting during the winter months.
    4kWp (black/black) - Sofar Inverter - SSE(141°) - 30° pitch - North Lincs
    Installed June 2013 - PVGIS = 3400
    Sofar ME3000SP Inverter & 5 x Pylontech US2000B Plus & 3 x US2000C Batteries - 19.2kWh

Have you got any suggestions for installers at that price?. I checked with a few and it was a fair bit more. The component price including VAT on Midsummer is coming out around that figure. Thanks

The sites I checked are all taking orders for the US5000 so I'm reluctant to link them. Midsummer aren't the cheapest but have a good reputation & been around a while. I use a local supplier, Amco Renewables in Doncaster, who usually undercut Midsummer by at last 10% & I don't have to pay the delivery charge which helps a lot.

Thank you all very much! It looks it might be possible to install couple of extra panels on the flat portion of the roof above the garage. Electrician was doing some work yesterday and advised.

I didn't know about micro-inverters, will look these up. Sounds that it could be a possible solution, just need to do the math on the VAT.

The electrician installed Zappi yesterday so for the first time I can see how much energy is being exported to the grid, and it is 1.3kwh so far today. That is with us at home all day, running dehumidifier (about 0.8kwh) and while there is some sun it often goes behind clouds, and most of the morning it was rainy.

So even on an imperfect winter day we could have put 1.3kwh + into the battery rather than it going down the drain.

I don't know anything about this company but they do appear to have some US5000C batteries in stock.
