Arvato issues / can unregulated debt be written off?

Hi! I wonder if any of the very knowledgeable people around here can help me.
I called Arvato today. They are managing a debt I have with EE as I cancelled my contract way early as I couldn’t carry on paying £200+ monthly for my phone contract and handset. The debt is about £2400
I called them as I wanted to ask them to pass along to EE some paperwork for them to consider writing off my debt (or settling for a smaller amount) as almost all my other creditors have done so due to ill health.

The man from Arvato told me that they won’t do that as the debt I have can’t be written off. I said that I didn’t agree with him as I had a debt with NatWest pardoned and it was nearly £15k. They said that “the debt with EE is different as it is an unregulated debt so each debt is treated differently and NatWest might have done it but we can’t do it”. I said at least pass the paperwork over to EE! He still refused.
Is he telling me the truth or is he bullshitting me?? I had loans, credit cards and a very account written off. All 3 different type of debts. It sounds to me like they don’t even want to try??
Is there any email I can contact EE on in which I can send this paperwork directly myself if Arvato is not being transparent with me?
thanks

He is correct in saying the debt is not regulated by the consumer credit act, as its a service contract, the rest of the conversation is a prime example of why you should never speak to these people on the phone.
Avarto are just acting as a collector here, they do not own your debt, so therefore have no control over what happens with it, they cannot write off a debt that they do not own.
If you want EE to consider writing off your debt, then deal directly with the organ grinder and not their monkey.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Any debt can be written off at the creditors discretion, it makes no difference whatsoever.Cheesephetamine said:Ok. I thought so.
