There are not many annuity providers left.    And several of them will only transact via intermediaries.   Typically, the best rates come via IFAs.     The money advice service tables give you an idea of the generic rates available from providers.   They are not reliable enough to use for real world but give you an idea.  It will also give you the list of who is left offering annuities.

If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

What are you trying to achieve?

You have the likes of https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/-/media/boe/files/prudential-regulation/authorisations/which-firms-does-the-pra-regulate/2021/list-of-authorised-insurers/list-of-uk-insurers-april-2021.pdf but unfortunately Life and Annuities are bundled together plus just because you are licensed to write a class of business doesnt mean you are actively writing it... a good number of those have closed books and so only write where contractually obligated to (normally bulk schemes not personal annuities)

The above wouldnt include any Lloyds syndicates, if there are any, but I've never dealt with the Life side of Lloyds
  • Sorry for the delay in responding.
I'm asking because all the guides and articles I have read regarding annuities say "make sure you get quotes from the whole market".
I'd like to know who the "whole market" is.

Effectively the marketplace.   However, a number of these will only transact with you via an intermediary and not direct to consumer.       But you can get a general idea of who they are from the money advice service tables.  Just don't rely on the figures as they are not necessarily the best price (they don't include uplifts for commercial reasons, haggling or health).
