mortgage application credit search one party if both aren't on the mortgage

Hello,

apologies for the title didn't know how to describe it if my wife purchases the house we rent from her parents with the mortgage in her name, will I still be credit searched as my credit score isn't good and I have a couple off ccjs? my name is not on any bills only the electoral register and I pay the rent to her parents.

    The issue can be overcome, but it wont be for every lender. 
    Single applications for married couples can be a problem.
