Thank you Kajikita, it seems to be working, and I've tried every other approach so I'm running out of approaches now
I've had a decade of weight loss in the form of '2 steps forward, 1 step back'. I'm determined to make this a tiptoeing forward in a straight line.
My three favourite podcasts - all Mel Robbins are:- Eat THIS to Lose Fat, Prevent Disease, & Feel Better Now with Dr. William Li.
- Change Your Body & Your Life in 1 Month: 4 Small Habits That Actually Work, Dr Rangan Chatterjee

Hopped on the scales this morning. Edit they are showing 2lbs down over the past 2 weeks (and now the lowest I have been in the last 10 years!). I'm aware that the scales are subject to change i.e. water etc., but I'm pleased that I'm keeping on with the healthy eating. One thing that is great that even when there are downs in life, I might eat slightly more but the diet doesn't go to pot. Its just a little more food and so I don't feel like I've failed and thrown in the towel.
My motivation now is solely clothes fitting better, and swapping some wobbly bits for firmer muscley bits.
I've also had the stuff through to fill in/complete for the mortgage application, so need to make time for that this weekend.Mortgage 30 Apr'25. est. £211,500k £309,749, Ends Feb'36 Jun'39 (target Feb'31)

Well done on your consistency!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Glad you are enjoying your garden purchases.
Laughed at the cat and the clematis.

Thank you LWAP and Savings
I'm determined that this is my lifestyle diet i.e. not a diet for a week or two, but how I'm going to eat for the rest of my life. I've been reading about how heavily restricting your diet can lead to being pre-occupied with food, and then there's the 'what the hell' where you break your diet with something 'forbidden' and then go 'what the hell' and go all out eating.
So, long term and step by step is the way I'm going, although its a bit like the mortgage OPs you really want it to happen as fast as possible. But, I did it with my debt-free journey, and am getting there with the mortgage this way, so will apply the same principles to my health.

Weighed myself again this morning (despite telling myself not to - what am I like
). I know I've eaten healthily this week and am not relying on scale changes, but its a real habit. Slightly disappointed that they'd gone up 100g - probably water, food, the weather who knows - but I also know I should wait until Saturday morning as that extra day really makes a difference.
Anyway that 100g inspired me to have a wardrobe try on - found some things now fit - so carried on and ended up having a huge clear out. Now have piles of clothes for selling/donating - just having a coffee before listing them.

Update: later time getting up today and another 1lb loss recorded 🎉. I know this is likely to go up/down depending on time of day, water, food etc. but worth a small celebration as my target loss is now under a stone (13.5lb to be precise
). Its like one of the those mortgage milestones when you drop a number. I'll be really celebrating when I've lost the next 3lbs as I'll be down into the next whole number. Weight loss is a similar principle to debt-free / mortgage-free, its step by step and trying to be patient and productive while trying not to be frustrated that its taking so long.
(Edit - and a 3.5lb loss will mean only ten pounds to lose - that just feels so much more achievable than
the 3 stone I needed to lose at the very start of my menopause weight loss journey).
Clothes fitting better is an amazing feeling. I've started following a FB page called The Capsule Wardrobe and have some ideas for a few bits to tweak my existing outfits - River Island and Zara - so I'd better get selling on V1nted and the 'Bay to pay for them.Mortgage 30 Apr'25. est. £211,500k £309,749, Ends Feb'36 Jun'39 (target Feb'31)

I just revisited my 'Seven Goals' post linked in my signature from 31st July 2024. I felt tired just reading it 😅. I also read a few of the follow on posts, one which said I didn't think we'd achieve 40% equity by remortgage time - well we did it and will exceed it
. I also talked about never ending food shopping and not letting the credit cards build up. Both dealt with I'm glad to say and helped muchly by my new (this year) healthy eating.
So big long lists are out and smaller lists are in:- Mortgage - complete paperwork for remortgage
- Clothes - sell/donate
- Create - make some space for crafting - knitting and maybe crochet to start.
- Career/work/study - think about what I want to do in life (not necessarily major moves but enjoyable)
- Decorating
- Garden

Lovely sunny day here today. Managed a trip to the garden centre and then planted everything up apart from an evergreen clematis. I spotted that Aldee will be selling metal obelisks for £9.99 on Thursday so I'll try and get one of those for it. Everything looks so nice in the sun.
Also managed to drop 2 bags of donations at the charity shop.Mortgage 30 Apr'25. est. £211,500k £309,749, Ends Feb'36 Jun'39 (target Feb'31)
