Self assessment

Hello
I will have to fill out a tax return for HICBC as I earned over 50k for the first time.  As I'm on PAYE, is there anything I can claim for as expenses to lower the tax burden.  I pay union fees and pay into a pension.  Can I claim for them or anything else?

Thanks

Union fees are highly unlikely to be eligible for tax relief.

What method do you use to contribute to the pension?

    Net pay?
    Relief at source?
    Salary sacrifice?

Some union fees are deductible. Find your union's website, as this should tell you.
