Oh hang on, edited to say that I have just looked this up & it seems that non-Christmas special issue/picture/commemorative stamps are not barcoded, are fine to use & don't require swapping. I did think this must be the case given that they are still issuing heaps of nice new designs.....none of which have a barcode. Whoever knew that there were Iron Maiden stamps?!

I collected UK stamps until about 20 years ago but I lost interest when more & more 'special' stamps were being issued.  I'm so glad now not to still be collecting as it would have been very expensive with all of the recent changes with barcodes etc.

Is the word puzzle the target where you have nine letters one of which has to be in every word.  I used to love that but thought they had stopped it.

Didn't think you were that much further north than me, but its been very cold & overcast here today. Had sun for about 20 mins this morning maybe but been a very cold wind all day and feels more like autumn going into winter instead of spring. Hoping for some improvement soon as got garden plans. 
Sounds like your day has been productive as always.

@badmemory - Yes, it is! It's my favourite puzzle. It is in the Guardian on Saturdays. I haven't started it yet today & wish Mr F didn't find my efforts so entertaining. I just won't ever give up until I have achieved the 'excellent' score & it really pigs me off if I can't get the 9-letter word too!

@Makingabobor2 - Oh you really have had different weather to us today then. I am not sure where you live, but I think you are in a different region to me & that we are a probably a fair bit further north east? We look set to have rain tomorrow so maybe our lovely sunshine today is heading your way. I had to take my coat off in the garden - I do have a long-sleeved top & jumper on, but it still felt nice to be able to shed a bulky outdoor layer & move about more freely while I was wielding the garden fork.

You are East Mids I thought?  We are, but always thought....reading between the lines of things you say, that you were a little bit further north than us...lol.  We are in the south of that  county that their city football team wears blue & white....lol

@Makingabobor2 - Yes, East Midlands. I don't know anything about football though. We are such a football-free house, we never even know there are World Cups & things going on until we see flags dangling out of windows!

It's been lovely and sunny here today (down South).  It was bright yesterday although bitterly cold but today has been much warmer and really feels like Spring is not too far away (thank goodness).
wish we were having a chilli tonight - we've got a very healthy sea bream, baby pots and spinach meal which will be yummy but ......actually MrBC has reminded me that he is making a wild garlic pesto to add a bit of oomph to dinner.  We picked the garlic while out walking today.

I think the weather today has been an east/west split rather than north/south. My friend who lives in a neighbouring county but a lot closer to the east coast has had a glorious day sat in the garden with a drink.

I'm always a fan of having bread in the freezer too - I buy YS'd when I see it, as well as us always saving the end of the loaves we make ourselves ready for future toasting. 

We had a quite distinct frost this morning as well although it warmed up fairly fast - MrEH didn't have to scrape the car when we left home, which he was quite glad about!  

My bay is feral so not in any shape 😀
