Ha ha, don't know yet. Might just see what we have that there isn't enough for us all. The good thing is NOBODY will say "I don't like that" all weekend.

Spent in 2023: £1846.53/£1860. Now on £96.08 for 2024. Lost the plot with adding up! Now trying with as little as possible to end of the year.7 -
Hi all, so tea today will be meatballs, tomato (and hidden vegetables) sauce and pasta, unsure yet whether this will be spaghetti or penne. The meatballs are HM from our own pork. Tomorrow will be liver (also from our own pigs), bacon and onions. None of the children like liver, nor S-i-L, but we both love it. So while they are away, we can eat it in peace. Might do enough for two days, and just change up the vegetables. Both OH and I are quite happy to eat the same meal twice.
Hugs, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2023.

Hello all, breakfast was porridge and blackberries. Lunch, beans and sausage on toast for OH, I had beans and, left over, meatballs, (I don't like the tinned sausages). Tea i made liver, bacon and onions, with broccoli and chips. Lots left for tomorrow. I've also blanched and frozen the rest of the broccoli I bought the other day. Now to finish of the Pringles and mulled wine, from Christmas.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2023.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you blanch the broccoli please? Should I be doing this? How do you blanch it? Sorry for the basic questions! I literally have no idea. Thank youGrocery Challenge 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍌🍍

Tea today was liver, bacon and onions again, with broccoli and boiled potatoes.
Everyone is back home now. Normal service resumes tomorrow.
Hi, @Gettingmyshiztogether. I don't mind anyone asking anything. The only way we learn anything is by questioning.
It's a bit of an experiment really. Last time I had a lot of broccoli cheap, I just froze it as it was. I found that the flowers fell of a lot in the freezer. I am trying blanching to see if it keeps it's flowers better. I'll let you know if it works. It still all gets eaten regardless of if it falls apart. To blanch, i put the florets into boiling water for a minute or two, fetched them out and plunged them into cold water, then drained them. I've read that it helps frozen veg to last longer, keeping it's colour/flavour better.

Whilst I don't like liver have DH and DS who do so your weekend sounds perfect.
I've just ha DH do a freezer audit (just one, small too) so I can do a strict meal plan and we'll only buy what we need this week - between the freezer and the veg box I suspect we'll only need milk and bread

We've just had our English/Irish Welsh-immigrant contingent (DS1 & fiancée) down for the weekend, & they've duly been informed of the greengrocer in Carmarthen & will definitely be investigating. But not just yet - the car is full of exotic spices, ferments and other oriental produce. There'd be a fortune waiting for anyone who opens an oriental grocery in south-west Wales, from them, their friends, and patients too...Angie - GC Dec 24: £7.66/£500: 2024 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 24/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)4

Hi, @thriftwizard, just tell them to leave some for me. Haha. I agree, there is nowhere that sells spices etc. Maybe one day.
Tea will be, sausage. (keep the kids happy) Probably with chips, I know we had them on Saturday, beans, and maybe tinned tomatoes.
Made some more spreadable butter today. I normally make enough for two 500gm tubs at a time. Today I thought I'd do enough for three. Melted the butter a bit in a big jug, added the oil, blended it with the stick blender. Turned round to get the scrapper and the weight of the blender knocked the jug over! We now have two tubs, as normal. And i have spent half an hour cleaning up butter! Ahhh!

Hi, @beckstar1975, a freezer audit is what I need to do, too. In fact three freezer audits! Watch this space, but don't hold your breath.
