Usually just read but eeeewww I've just remembered how much I hated semolina at school dinners!
If it was the nicest dinner lady got could ask for 'just strawberry sauce', but if not you got both and had to sit until you'd eaten it.4 -
Another non-sticky idea - use a different flour for dusting, i.e. non-wheat - potato, gram, rice, mas harina - anything the wheat flour doesn't "recognise" and adhere to. Was mentioned to me by a professional (and excellent) sourdough baker/chef, and it's worked for me - so far!Angie - GC Aug25: £478.51/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)2

I always use rice flour. Never had a problem with it sticking.3

I loathe semolina, tapiioca and ground rice with a vengeance. The texture is horrid and yes they do remind me of school dinners. I do like rice pudding though.

Oh, I think I remember chocolate flavoured semolina. Can't remember if it was school dinners or at home.
Using up leftovers today for tea. Two wraps were left from the other day when I made eight. Made them into pizzas, Topped with some onion, half a past it's best pepper, sliced tomatoes, tomato puree, (from a dented tin) mixed with some oyster and spring onion sauce that was lingering in the fridge, some cooked turkey I found in the freezer, (last bits of a turkey crown bought january 2023, some left still!), two slices of cooking bacon and grated cheese. Made potato cakes with some leftover mash. Served both with salad. Afters was cakes made yesterday. Fairy cakes with chopped orange chocolate bits in them, the chocolate isn't good on its own.

So yesterday I was thinking of making shepherds pie with the lamb in the fridge. Dadtoomany then said as it's so cold, why not curry? So we had lamb and cauliflower curry, even after making this I've still got a whole cauliflower left. So curry and rice, with some left over for lunch. I've just got out some liver for tomorrow, but not named tonight tea yet. Still eating the cakes, another three bars of same chocolate left to use in something.

Mum added cocoa to baked tapioca pudding and added a meringue topping. It was our favourite.4

Hi, @Nelliegrace, my grandma was a Nellie, never met another. I didn't like tapioca, thought it looked too much like frog spawn. I think i have some of that in the cupboard too, don't know why i have it, I may try making some, see if i like it now. If not I can always feed it to the dadtoomany, he likes almost everything.
Called at the shops on monday, dadtoomany had a dental appointment. Spent £2.91 in total. Bought milk, a reduced loaf and one other thing. Can't remember what. I'll have to add up my spends for September. Today we are off to DD2 again. They are moving into the new house tommorow. We wont be back until Friday so I'll be AWOL. My tablet has died! So i am back to using the PC, which is not portable!
Last two days we've had, liver bacon and onions, with potatoes and vegetables. Still picking lots of raspberries and apples. Tomatoes hardly any now but more runner beans growing.
Of to pack now, and research if the tablet is fixable, see you all Friday or Saturday, hugs, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.8 -
Mine too @mumtoomany, Nellie was in the Red Cross VAD in WW1, aged just 18, working in a hospital for head injuries and shell shock.
I have been using up everything in the fridge, for dinners this week, for Spanish omelettes, kedgeree, macaroni cheese, The hens keep laying.
