The Fenix 6 Pro Solar in the largest screen size is on sale on the garmin website for less than £400, the mid size one though is on at a little over £400
Oooo - just looking at that now.

Out of interest, do you and your husband wear your Garmins all the time? I dont wear a watch, but I may be tempted to if I can pay for things at the shop and receive msgs on.
We do, they're attractive watches in their own right with customisable screens - the payment feature is the one thing that is a bit sub optimal, in the UK it works with only a few banks, but you can front with a curve card.

But to be honest, neither of us use the payment feature, carrying an actual bank card (if going without a phone) is easy enough

Looking at this site https://www.idealo.co.uk/compare/200509695/garmin-fnix-6-pro.html Argos has a Fenix 6 Pro for just £298!
That doesn't appear to have solar though - that is the one feature that having seen my husband's watch, I wish I'd forked out for when I got mine (I bought the watch first).

Edit - notifications like messages, incoming calls, updates from apps (like a spend notification from the bank) all come through when the watch / phone are out together.

For clarity, I am not @Emmia's husband but my wife and I do wear our Garmins all the time including in bed (there is sleep tracking).
I have the Garmin Pay and find it very useful.  I use a Curve Card to go-between my Garmin and the CC - just the free level of Curve is sufficient.  I very rarely actually carry an actual credit card now.

    Indeed, they do:

Very tempting, but I am currently minded towards a simpler tracker and to wear a proper watch again...
