Dodgy site ?

Has anyone come across Mane Gift, at manegift.com? Their website was only registered on 28th December, so probably not, but they are selling things at absurdly low prices. I emailed then yesterday but didn't get a reply. They have zero net presence apart from their website. The address on the website is a house in a residential street which is inhabited by a firm of solicitors on the ground floor, but unsurpsingly they aren't answering the phone today. What I want to know is if I buy something from them with a credit card and they turn out to be bogus, am I covered if I get nothing in return ?

If its too good to be true, absurdly low prices, then its a good sign its a scam
  • the listed address has a "SAGE" sticker in the window, from that i deduct it may be a firm of accountants, there are 23 ltd companies at the same address, mostly being dissolved/struck off...

Cant see them on Company house but found a Mane Gift store online based in Nigeria..

I always look at the wording, spelling and punctuation on websites.

    How about this:

    TRENDING THIS WEAK

    And this:

    Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

They don't sell food, flowers or plants so this has clearly been copied and pasted from somewhere else.

Domains registered to a personal address in the US, with the site giving a UK address with no phone number. The site is using a basic template which has not been filled out completely. Spelling and grammatical errors.

Not a site I would be considering thats for sure.

Good to see you have stopped to check.
  • Call me stupid but I ordered off them wanted a coffee machine. I will keep you updated on my progress but after reading this I dought it will be a positive one.

Let me know if you recieve it! They say they've sold three more of the model I want since last week.
  • Yes I will so far nothing I had to pay through the Kalana card only way to pay. I did this using my credit card so if I get nothing I should be covered I hope. The deal was really good so I went for it. Fingers crossed.

If you used your credit card via Klarna, then you won't get section 75 protection. This site is clearly a scam, thus why they only offer this payment method.

No phone number, spelling mistakes throughout, sparse information on 'About us' and 'FAQ' - yet able to list over 130 major products, while listing from a  'service address' rather than a warehouse or retail outlet. It's sadly got scam written all over it - so expect it'll disappear in a couple of weeks once they've made enough money and done a runner.
