Carpet cleaner recommendations

Hi
I am looking to purchase a decent carpet cleaner at an affordable price which is also fairly compact size wise.
I had decide I wanted one with a roller brush head, but I just saw the George by Numatic (no roller head) and am tempted by this one as I like the brand.
Does anyone have any recommendations please?
I borrowed the Vax Dual Power Pet Cleaner and wasn't impressed, so that has really put me off Vax.
