Advice on Jobs and Mortgage

Me and my boyfriend are first time buyers and aren't really sure how to navigate this. We haven't applied yet, I want to make sure we understand everything fully so we have the best chance of approval when we proceed.
We are living in South Wales and want to move to North Wales. I've heard that he'll have to change his job before we apply and he'll need to be in the job for a bit before we can apply. The issue is we're struggling finding places to rent because of the cost, landlords refusing pets and inaccessible accommodation (I'm disabled). Could we still apply for a mortgage with his old job or would the bank question this?

Some lenders will accept a written offer and confirmed start date. You will probably struggle with the old job and relocation scenario you describe.
