How quickly will HMRC refund the 3% SDLT additional property surcharge?

I am moving house, but for complicated reasons I won't be selling my current house until a few weeks after I buy my new house. This means that I will unfortunately need to pay the 3% SDLT additional property surcharge on my new house.
I will of course be applying for a refund of the 3% surcharge (I have found the relevant gov.uk link and it seems quite straightforward), but I had a simple question: how quickly will HMRC refund the SDLT once I've submitted the application? I have seen online sources saying anything from a fortnight to six months, so it'd be really helpful to have some real life examples from people who've actually undertaken this process.

We did it by post ourselves, it was simple, and the repayment took around 4 weeks to show up in our bank. It had a very small amount of interest that appears to be because HMRC took more than the 15 days they are allowed to process it.
