MP3 players - what makes a good one?

I want to buy an MP3 player.
I need it to be good quality but not too expensive. Do any of you have one that you're really pleased with? Can you recomend it? Or do you know of any I should steer away from?
Thanks.

Ive used 2 , one was £25 off ebay last february, and to be honest it was great, then I started to use my ipaq for mp3 as its rechargeable, and to be honest not much between the two.
The main difference came when I got some decent Seinheisser neckband headphones, the sound on both turned nice crisp and full of bass.

So as long as its got the features you want then get whatever just remember to budget to change the headphones, Seinheisser are recognised as one of the best headphone manufactures.

Spot on, to be honest the headphones are probably almost as important as the player. How many ipod users have you heard 5 minutes before they arrive!!

Makes me laugh how they spend £250 trying to be cool and have a great player and stick with headphones that means most of the sound is lost.

My advice Shure e2c, get them off eBay for about £35-£40 as it's the best £35 you'll ever spend
