Just a quick heads up - I was shocked at the price increase in sugar (mostly 99p for 1kg bag at my local supermarkets). So I went hunting and found 1kg for 65p at my local Savers.

In case it helps someone....😊

Edited to show actual weight (and that my brain isn't working properly today - too much sugar? Or mebbe thinking 2lb?🤔🤦‍♀️)

99p for 2kg is an increase? Wow I pay over £2 at Asda https://groceries.asda.com/product/granulated-sugar/silver-spoon-granulated-sugar/20621

    Here's a tip.
Castor sugar is just a finer grain than granulated and of course icing sugar is finer still.
If you put granulated sugar in a liquidiser then you will make castor sugar or icing sugar, only at granulated sugar prices - about 1/3 the cost.

I have been doing that for years, never understood why people buy caster and icing x

It was in Tesco - 2 kg for £1.25 Silver Spoon a couple of weeks ago

trolley.co.uk is still showing it at that price

(and yes, I do mean 2 kilos!!)

and just to say this is beet sugar- so grown in UK, even fairly local to me

I have recently bought about 25Kg of sugar from a website that sells foods that are past their best before date, but not all the foods they sell are past the best before date. Most of it is granulated but one bag was castor sugar they are 5Kg bags and cost around £2.50 per bag, one cost £2 because the bag was broken.
Someone please tell me what money is
