Hello,
Is it possible to find out which bands houses in your immediate area, have been on over , for example, the previous 10 years?
I know you can find current year’s band for any property online? But can’t find any historical data.
many thanks,

Usually doesn't change unless an improvement has been made and then the dwelling sold, so a new band imposed.
When that is the case the .gov site has a link to View previous Council Tax bands for this property

Many thanks for your help. For the moment I can’t locate where this section, view previous CT bands is on the .gov site.0

If the words "View previous Council Tax bands for this property" do not appear at the bottom of the property information page then the CT band has never been changed.Hope9 said:Many thanks for your help. For the moment I can’t locate where this section, view previous CT bands is on the .gov site.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1 -
Thanks. I’m struggling to find an answer to the following anywhere, so maybe an expert here will know?
I assume that the 1991 valuation remains “fixed” so based on the size of the property then? And not what the size of the house is when you challenge, maybe 20 years on?
Asking as We’ve had an extension in last couple of years but from 1991 to 2020 (when extension built) have been in a higher band than our 2 neighbours.
could I challenge for the period 1991 to when extension happened?
thanks0 -
CT actually came into force in 1993. As far as I am aware you cannot ask for a band reduction covering an historic period. You could ask for a band reduction and see if the VOA would accept that the band should have been lower in 1993, but they may take the view that the dwelling should be valued as at the date of the request and thus say that because of the extension, the band is not excessive.Hope9 said:Thanks. Forgot to add, there is a possibility that your band is correct and your neighbours' are incorrect
