Back again. It seems a quiet enough morning at the moment, though the rain was hammering down last night.Yesterday went as planned, I went to the shops, for last minute things and the supermarket was absolutely crazy, people with trolleys piled high, I only had a basket thank goodness.A friend rang yesterday to say her husband had died, it was an expected death. They have been friends of ours for over 50 years. The funeral is early in the new year. Our friends are disappearing at an alarming rate, that's the trouble with getting old I suppose.Today we'll prepare for tomorrow at Dd's, at their cottage in the Durham dales. I'll contact her later to see if there's anything they've forgotten for tomorrow, if so I can go to the supermarket here for her.Sorry to hear about your car incidents Gers and Bella.Dp1, your Dgd saying that the hole in the ceiling was in the bags in the garden made me smile, she's a funny little soul!Hope everyone has a good day today, thinking of our poorly and sad people.Take care folks.9

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off Scarlet. Condolences on the death of your friend, it's especially difficult at this time of year.Predictably, I'm still snuggled in bed though I will rise very shortly. I want to go up to Oban for a couple of last minute bits.I hope that everyone has a fraught free Christmas Eve.🎄 Happy Saturday to all.8

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Condolences on your sad news. It always feels so much worse around Christmas time when other folk are out celebrating and having fun.
The heavy rain we had forecast yesterday wasn't too heavy after all, just normal rain! It feels quite mild this morning and I actually got too warm in bed in my fleecy jimjams. We can't win!
I have a cooking morning ahead. It's mostly stuff to take down to DD's for Christmas and Boxing Days. It saves her some time and expense. We are having a sort of back to front Christmas this time! Our Christmas dinner will be on Boxing Day when DS and his DP join us, and tomorrow we are having an Italian day instead! I am doing Arancini for our starters and a big lasagne to join the stuff DD is doing for the mains. The girls are sorting dessert so I don't know what to expect for that! There should be plenty of leftovers to snack on while we play silly games later! (I have a big gammon joint defrosting slowly in the cold garage for Boxing Day and gaps in the freezers! I never got on with sorting them out yesterday so that's another job for today)
Have a nice day all if you can folks and ((HUGS)) as always for our poorlies, lonely or MIA. BELLA and GERS sorry about the car casualties but at least it was only cars involved and not people. That's the important thing. Take care all; and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
Morning all, Christmas Eve already!Scarlet I am so sorry about your friend, hugs and sympathy x Have a lovely day in the Durham Dales tomorrow.TA we effectively have 2 Christmases, tomorrow with Youngest brothers family here and us all, on BD DS2 is here again with the DGC. Last year we went to his but the kids said they missed seeing the presents piled on the sofa here & the roast dinner, so they'll have pressies at his and oursDH is going to get the turkey from his friend at lunchtime, they have friends in Cumbria with a smallholding where they rear a few. We've had them for the last few years and have been lovely. I have been hunting for a recipe my Gran always used to make, walnut stuffing. I know I have had the recipe but can't find it, but have found a few alternatives online so will give it a whirl.Ruby, I hope you are feeling more comfortable now xPoppy, good to hear from you, hugs.Sorry about the car woes, Gers and Bella.Right better take pooch out, have a good day folks x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all. Up and at em to wash bed stuff and put new covers on. Only have the one sheet for the bottom so that's wash and dry. Got sausages and bacon out of the freezer to make pigs later on, the spinach is out too for a spinach and brocolli bake, ditto more sausages for rolls, got the pudding to steam again for a few hours and that should be the cooking done today. I made the stuffing last night so that's done too. I don't think I've ever been so organised with the cooking side of things before. We're not going anywhere near any shops today, if we haven't got it, we haven't got it, but i reckon I could probably feed the five thousand with what I usually have anyway. I found reasonable diesel yesterday after a couple of false starts so that's sorted and did my tyres so I'm sorted for Wales trip next week. Still haven't wrapped any presents
Maybe later...
Gers, Bella, glad you're both OK because metal can be repaired for the most part, humans are softer. failingm, welcome..TA, that sounds lovely actually..Scarlet, my condolences, even if it's expected, it's still shocking. Have a lovely Christmas everyone, or time off or whatever it is that's floating your boat, hugs to the poorly people, party streamers for everyone..。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow, oh, the snow
I said, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmas' be white

Morning all, it's stopped raining but is still wet underfoot and unless there's an emergency I'm not going out. After about 2 years of staying clear of any illness, this head cold is a doozy 😟
Today is meat cooking day so while it's cooking I'll give the dining room a dust over and hoover. The dw is already on and the kitchen and the cooker top will need to be cleaned last. No tea to cook today as we're having a takeaway, we'll be all cooked out by then anyway😂
DD and our DGC will come up tomorrow to open their presents with us (SiL will stay home to cook lunch if he can work out how to use the new ovens 😱) and Dad will come here for lunch, then we'll go to DD's for teatime. Everybody will be here for Boxing Day for Mr Fix It's famous curry lunch and then stay for teatime.
I have been writing this post for ages as Mr Fix It keeps yakking my ears off. I think I've lost the ummph to multi task today !
taff many thanks for all your hard work doing the lovely carols and songs.
Scarlet my condolences on the death of your friends husband. Enjoy your time with your DD.
Gers and bella hope your car scrapes can be sorted quickly and painlessly.
I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas, whatever your plans. I want to thank everyone on the daily for their kindness and virtual friendship.
Take care, stay warm and safe. Hugs to the poorly ones, especially Poppy.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Morning All (just)
Sorry you've had car bumps Gers and Bella, hope they can be sorted quickly and without too much expense.
Ruby - hope you're still resting and recovering.
Made it to the end of term without too much incident, it was the longest day ever! Picked the little one up on my way home, had risotto for tea (at her request) and a lovely evening reading Christmas stories and watching The Snowman. About an hour after she went to sleep I heard her coughing so went up to check and she had been sick all over the bed but was still fast asleep!
I managed to change her and the bed without her waking up but it was a horrid night with her coughing and me being too hot, I've probably only slept for about an hour.
Anyway, she's right as rain this morning and back with her Mum and Dad, I now have tons of washing to do so the TD is on (shame on me!). Last of the housework being done then I'll have a wander down to town to take the soft plastic and glass recycling. Thankfully the weather is quite pleasant so the house is having a good airing.
Good to hear from you Poppy, thinking of Marie and Mehifin too.
Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas, take care. XX

Thanks for keeping us all supplied with Christmas carols and tunes Taff - they're really appreciated.I've been up to Oban and back. M&S was busier than normal but bearable, I arrived well before alcohol sales started (10.00a.m. in Scotland) so got there before the big rush. Now all should be watching TV and drinking Baileys. Friends will be popping in at some point to exchange gifts so I've laid the woodburner to light when they come, so far I'm OK without it.Hugs to all our poorlies and those feeling low.9

Afternoon everyone
Camelot - snap - little one and I watched The Snowman too last night and then cuddled up with Christmas stories. I didn't have the sick though! - pleased she's ok again this morning.
Her blood sugar alarm went off this morning - 4am and then again at 5 - she announced 'it's Christmas Eve granny!'
We've been done to mam and dads this morning - little one acted out the Nativity story with the knitted figures and helped set the table for lunch tomorrow. She's so excited - it's lovely - eldest DD finds her quite overwhelming though - she's not really into noisy children!
So I've a couple of jobs to do then we're going to play snakes and ladders and then DD will pick her up about 3pm - the rest of the day will be very peaceful!
It seems to have taken me ages to write this as she keeps talking to me - so I'll wish you all a lovely day tomorrow, whatever you're doing. Take care everyone x8
