Tesco Clubcard points for empty printer cartridges

Wasn’t sure where to post this, but I discovered the other day that Tesco give you up to 125 Clubcard points for eligible empty printer cartridges, which they then recycle. I got 250 extra points for my two HP ones. Better than a poke in the eye, as my mum would have said!

Not eligible includes: Brother, Epson, Lexmark or Kodak (They will take these but there's no 'reward!')

looks like only Canon or HP are acceptable and even then depends on the model. Not a very inclusive deal!

I am guessing this is because they have now started selling only recycled cartridges rather than manufacturer originals in store, and they are using this recycling scheme to keep the supply going.

It's a bit of a shock opening a package from Tescos only to find a piece of card inside telling you all the error messages you must ignore (e.g. in case your printer accuses you of using a counterfeit cartridge!).

Not sure what the manufacturers are going to make of this given Tesco must have been one of the biggest outlets for their cartridges (which is where they make their money).

In my experience when your printer starts giving out error messages because of the cartridge it’s a downward spiral until the printer stops working. I’m sure they have inbuilt software to stop you using aftermarket cartridges one way or another.
