Leave entitlement during retirement notice period NHS

My leave year runs from beginning of April  (NHS). I plan to retire end of July. My annual allowance is 32 days with bank holidays. Am I allowed to use all my annual allowance in the 4 months of my final leave year or just 1/3 of it ? Can't find a clear answer to this, but I expect its the latter ?

    It will be the latter.

Just as an example, we give 6 weeks of leave per year as an employer which accrues in reality at 1 week every 2 months. Your contract will state the same.

You only accrue holiday for the portion of the year you are employed.  So if your annual entitlement is 24 days (not including BH) you will accrue 1/3 of that - so can take 8 days.

BHs should include 9 days next year (8 + 1 extra for coronation I believe) so I don't know if you will get 1/3 (so 3) or get all the BHs that are in April to end July (5).  It may depend on what your contract says and whether you normally work BHs or not.

As stated above, your annual leave entitlement will be pro-rated for the part of the year worked, regardless of whether you are part-time or full time.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Surely OP would only be entitled to BHs that fall during the period of employment? So if retiring end of July that would be 5? 2 x Easter, Early May Bank, Spring Bank, Coronation

If it were a contract stipulating a certain number of days plus bank holidays, as they don't work Mondays, then that leaves just the Good Friday BH during employment.
However all holiday should be pro rated - the OP needs to look at their written documents regarding the exact wording.
  • Can’t you just drop HR an email and ask “if I was to leave on this date how much leave would I be able to take before leaving?”

I work for the NHS and we have a calculator available on the intranet where you put in the details and it auto calculates.

But I’ve always found it useful to get HR to confirm.
