in Credit cards
 In the last few days 2 different companies have contacted me to say that my orders with them are ready for despatch. The only problem is I haven't ordered anything with them !!
It would seem that my name and address (apart from the slightly different postcode) have been used as the invoice and delivery address and payment has been made also in my name with a credit card in my name. Thankfully both companies have been in touch with me to say the card has been refused. How do I make sure that this doesn't happen again ? How will this affect any future credit agreement if I want to buy something on credit in the future ?
I'm very worried about this as how did the ba....ds get my details in the first place ? Do I need to report this to the police ?
HELP !!

You need to contact your credit card company straight away and tell them. Your card details could have been compromised & may need to be stopped, i wouldn't leave it any longer if it was me.
I have had the same thing happen to me and my credit score is still deemed excellent so i wouldn't worry too much about that but you really do need to tell your cc company about this straight away.0 -
Only problem is I don't know who has issued the new card whicxh this problem relates to...
All I can do is wait for the bill to arrive and take it from there0 -
have you thought about getting your credit report from experian, as i know mine lists all cards/catalogue/loans etc that i have, so if there is a card someone has got using your details, it should show up that way and you will know who it has been provided by. you can sign up to experian and i got access to my report the same night, and i think they do 30 days free take a look at this site: http://www.experian.co.uk/MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
