How can I "fix" old walking shoes.

I have a puppy that when very bored or hyper likes to bite my shoes, for that reason I don't wear my good shoes I got 2 months ago near her unless I have to go out and use a pair that has split at the side.
They do they job despite looking very tatty but if I walk in a puddle I get a very wet and cold foot and puppy can find the gap and bite at my feet sometimes.
I tried expoxy and it worked for about 2 days and went back to as it was before, probably a water based one.
I don't want to spend a huge amount as they are years old, I would just buy a pair from a chaity shop but I have bigger than average feet so even normal stores rarely have shoes or trainers in my size and I have to get them online.

I've never found anything to mend shoes sadly.
I would wear really strong freezer bags over your socks inside the shoes- might not look good but might keep your feet dryBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Hi OP
Are the soles welted and what is the upper and soles made of?
Thanks0 -
Waterproof socks might be a possible solution. I know some runners who prefer non waterproof running shoes and in wet weather wear waterproof socks.

What is the material they are made of? Has the material split, or a seam come unsewn? Seams can be resewn. Otherwise maybe glue and sew a patch on - you probably want good quality contact cement.Do you have pictures? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Depending on where the holes are perhaps a product like ShoeGoo would help.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Not sure exact material but I'd say a fabric type not a plastic type, its the side by the big toes that has come away basically the fabric and the sole have seperated. When I used epoxy before they did bond and you couldn't tell there was a split but came apart 2 days later (after leaving it 2 days just in case to set), though I admit I didn't mix epoxy correct, I just squeezed it out and spread it rather than mixed it.0

Use the epoxy properly and d it will probably work but the best way to mend it is to spread the epoxy on a piece of fabric or material or something like that and apply to the inside.

Train the puppy to leave your shoes alone!Or put them out of the way of the puppy, in a cupboard and shut the door firmly.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

You can buy glue which is specifically made for sticking leather. I think it is just called leather glue. I have used it and it works well. However it will not stick two edges together. You need to put a thin piece of leather on the inside of the shoe over the tear. You will probably need at least 3/4 inch of leather on each side of the tear. Thin leather can be found in the tongues or linings of many shoes, so if you have an old pair of shoes those might have the patch of leather you need.
