Heads up, compers! In order to investigate a technical issue, we've had to move some of the older threads from Game Over into a new category called 'Game Over Archives'. It'll be comps from before 2017, so shouldn't have too much impact on your day-to-day Forum experience. Thanks for your patience!
Scam possibly targeting compers

50 Posts
I just received an email purportedly from Currys PC World telling me You Have..Won An Electric SmegKettle (!)
Everything about it looks scammy as can be, but especially for those of us who are advent crazy it might be a bit too tempting to resist.
If you click through you get to an American website that says you can win the prize by filling in a survey but you have to do it in the next 5 mins. I did not investigate further!
I'm not sure what part of the forum to post this in so admins please move this where appropriate or delete if duplicate etc.

Competition Scams - Please Post Them Here

Best not to open scam e-mails and certainly not to click on any links as that can show them they have a "live" e-mail address and increase the amount of spam (recently I was getting several a day from "Currys/PC world" to an old hotmail address that has never been used for competitions)
