Okay not quite loaning thousands of pounds to a budding entrepreneur for half their company in the hope of making a fortune - but thought this might make a good 'gift with a bit of a difference which can make a difference' from a site called Kiva.org http://www.kiva.org/about/how/ - and the recipient of the gift can choose exactly who gets the money. Also it's a loan so can be withdrawn when repaid or can be reloaned to someone else. Gift certificates are sent by email, so ideal for that last minute gift. Gift cert is $25 which given the weak dollar is about £12.

I've just read a review about Kiva over on Dooyoo and think it's a brilliant idea!

I'm going to wait until I receive my next cheque from Dooyoo and just part of that to make my first $25 loan (donation.) :T
