I've only had solar panels for a few weeks, and for a period of time (a few days where temperatures didn't go above minus 2) the panels generated effectively nothing.

They are east/west facing on a shallow roof.  The frost was pretty much permanent on our roof, until the temperature finally lifted.

We're also at the point in the year when the sun is lowest in the sky. Which means the worst angle for E/W panels.
