Should I feel obligated to work over Xmas holidays?

As I understand it:
For leave, you are entitled to 28 paid days leave a year. However, those 28 days can include bank holidays.
So assuming you have the bank holidays off, that means your legal minimum is 20 days (assuming 8 days bank holidays)

For changes to leave,it is generally twice the period of leave plus 1 day (https://www.gov.uk/holiday-entitlement-rights/booking-time-off-). However, "If the contract says something different about the notice a worker or employer should give, what’s in the contract will apply."
So as long as they are meeting the statutory minimum they are not breaking employment law.
However, if they are going against your contract, it is a breach of contract and you can choose to accept it or leave without notice.0 -

Im not sure employers are allowed to pay you for unused holidays at the end of the year, unless you're leaving employment.0
