Cancelling Gym Membership 30 Days

My gym (Bannatynes) emailed me on 1st Dec to inform me that they are increasing the price of my membership by +£6 per month.
This being their second price hike in a year and with a new gym opening next to them with an attractive offer, I sent an email reply to them the next day saying I wanted to cancel my membership.
They replied saying that my last payment will be taken on 1st of January 2023 and my membership will resume until 31st January 2023.
Their T&Cs say that I need to give no less than 30 days notice, so they are telling me that because 30 days after 2nd December is 1st January 2023, I will have to pay another full month's membership even though I have informed them that I wont be needing the membership in January. 
I don't want them taking anymore money from me, so I cancelled my DD. 
Are there likely to be repercussions to me doing this?
 I was a member for 9 years and I'm appalled by this. 
2nd Dec to 31st Dec is 30 days, and I believe that surely this is ample notice to be giving??

Yeah, they've twice said it's in the TCs that the last payment needs to be made on the 1st of the following month and then the membership will cease at the end of that month
