Thomas Big Big Loader 50% off at Toys R Us

Bought Thomas Big Big Loader for £14.99 (usual price £29.99) from Toys R Us and the boys (4 and 2) have not stopped using it for 3 days. It's great; for some unknown reasons they (and I!) are totally transfixed by it. Don't now how long it will last but am enjoying it in the meantime. You do need to be relatively handy to put it together and to make quick repairs following the inevitable fights/falls on to the track.

It was 50% off in my local Toys R Us (Brent X) they also had Buy 2 Get 3rd free on all Thomas Tomica World trains and accessories.

Not sure if it's the same one but the Thomas big loader is also £14.99 in Argos as a normal price.

This is the slightly larger "big big" loader; it is also available online:

Oooh...I would say 'snap them up'. We have had the ordinary size Thomas big loader since our 8yr old was about 3 and it is still used by his younger brothers. The big, big loader looks even better.

"for some unknown reasons they (and I!) are totally transfixed by it." said lewbe, strangely enough I know what you mean....it seems to have that effect.

My 2 and a half year old son has both of these sets.

The 'Big' Loader can be joined onto the 'Big Big' Loader to make a huge set using only one of the battery vehicles.

This is done with an extra piece of track supplied with the 'Big Big' Loader Set which replaces a piece of track from the 'Big' Loader set but you do have to keep flicking the switch on the track to transfer between the two sets.

I still think it's better to have both sets seperate and running as it's more fascinating. :)
  • Definitely agree with other posters, we bought the Thomas Big Loader for my son when he was about two. He has played with it no end, and it is still in pefect working order - and he is seven next month! Obviously he doesn't play with it much at all now, but it's still a "golden oldie", and I'm quite glad if he asks me to put it together because it does have that strange fascination others have mentioned. The best quality toy we ever bought him!

Thanks lewbe and the other posters!

Got the missus to go to our local toys r us in Croydon, still had the old price, but came up as 50% off. Also wanted the Peek a Blocks - Gobble 'N Go Hippo (also half price) but didnt have any in stock.

Also tempted by the country playhouse also 1/2 price @ £49.99, but dont wont to spoil the kids, hmmm:

Not sure if it's a similar thing or not, but my local Argos (London Victoria) were selling the Thomas and Terrence Deluxe Action set for £12.49 (reduced from £50). Haven't seen it in the last couple of weeks, but might be worth checking the instore stock checker if passing an Argos and interested.

    There's a picture here.

Catalogue number is 347/9047, no longer listed on their website but might be available via Ring and Reserve.

Yep, had quite a few yesterday. Can't see them selling out as they'd been too lazy / stupid to update the prices. Gave my missus the "what half price deal, oh that's probably an Internet only thing"
