Winter fuel payments 2022

I'm a MS newbie so please forgive any errors!

I received DWP 21 Oct 22 letter from WFPC (Wolverhampton) stating my payment will be £100. This was follwed by another letter, 25 Oct 22 saying it will be £250. My wife also received these letters under her NI number. On checking my bank today 4 Nov 22 we both received £10 each! Has anybody else had the same? This has upset us. I do not know how to complain, or to whom. There is a free phone number at the bottom of the letter but it implies that it will be available after 13 Jan 23. Will we then receive the balance of the WFP? Yours Freezingly, PAFfy_1945

Have patience you will get your payments which seem to be going out in a rather random fashion. The £10 payments are your Christmas bonus payments. We have not received those yet, but I received  the £250 payment on Friday even though I never received the letter. My wife had a letter but has not had her payment yet.

I've had my £250 but my wife hasn't. Still waiting for the extra £10 each.

Presume this is in fact 4 December. I can understand that the confusion has both annoyed and upset the pair of you, but possibly just waiting a bit will resolve matters - it very often does, and if you complain, the danger is that you take people away from getting on with their proper job: ensuring payments are made to the correct people for the right amount.

With regard to letter concerning the £100 followed by the letter making reference to £250, this will have happened because on top of the usual £100 winter fuel payment, an additional Pensioner  Cost of Living Payment is to be made for this year only.

It appears that both you and your spouse are eligible for a payment of £250 each.

You will see from the link above that your payments should be made by 13th January.

You could each receive these at different times.

You are also each eligible for the Christmas Bonus of £10 each.

One pensioner of my acquaintance has checked the bank account and found that the £100, £150, £10 and weekly state pension will all be paid tomorrow.

Look at the payment reference.  Winter fuel payment will be DWP WFP, the £10 will be DWP XB

Had or 2 x WFP last week and one XB this morning.  Will wait  excitedly for the other £10 to arrive.

£19 Christmas bonus how come ? I got my £10 Christmas bonus added to my pension, I'm not complaining just curious

I'd put money they were typing on a mobile phone keyboard. The "0" and the "9" are very close together, I often get that one happen.

The 9 is just to the left of the 0 on a keyboard and that was obviously a simple slip of the finger.

My tenner came this morning my state pension is coming tomorrow.

It seems no rhyme or reason as to how they schedule the payments.. but there will be a method I'm sure.
