bulk cooking,
frozen vegetables etc are reasonably priced than fresh ones.
Sometimes the supermarkets reduce price towards end of the day, when I worked at M&S part time whilst studying got some decent bargains and will be expiring soon or near expiry date.
You can't do that around where I live, the supermarkets rarely reduce anything any more and it's usually only a few pence. Other times I've seen scuffles break out with lots of pushing and grabbing so I think that's also partly why it stopped. Usually cheaper for them to just bin it I suppose especially when they are short staffed
Comparing prices, Budgeting, bulk cooking and buying store branded stuff probably the best for low-cost options.1 -

£10 was doable 10 years ago, now it is completely unreasonable unless you want to eat generic cereal three times a day.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -

Back when I was married I hit a rough patch money wise. He was posted and I’d no money (he didn’t want me working so I was skint). Having gently exhausted friends and family I ended up eating salt+pepper on toast as my main meal. It didn’t do me a lot of good but at least I wasn’t hungry. Prolly be ok short term though.I had a hen who could count her own eggs - she was a mathemachicken.2

Another variation on the toast, cinnamon toast, toasted one side then prinkled with sugar and cinnamon and toasted until crunchy. That was the after school snack. Or a cup of hot stock, basically a mug of hot water with half a stock cube.

I used to live next door to a woman that had a teaspoon of marmite in a mug of hot water. She claimed it was good for the blood (or something).
I love marmite so I tried it once and it was vile.I had a hen who could count her own eggs - she was a mathemachicken.2
