Child benefit tax HICBC - where to declare pension contributions?

Afternoon all,
I'm filling in a self assessment tax return to see how much child benefit I need to pay back. On the child benefit tax calculator it said to enter your salary before tax (with pension contributions under net pay arrangements deducted). But on the online form there are only boxes for pre-tax pay, and tax. Am I supposed to enter my pre-tax pay minus my pension contributions for the year? Or am I supposed to enter my gross pay without any tax or pension deductions and trust that the system will "know" how much I've paid into my pension?
