ID mobile didn't cancel my rolling contract

Options
Because of this I got 3 months of missed payments.

This happened 2 years ago and I only realised this week it hit my credit file.

This wasn't my fault though. I cancelled it over the phone and the operator told me the date it would be cancelled.

I didn't record the conversation.

What can I do in this scenario?

  • As this happened 2 years ago it's too late to expect anything to happen.
Your due diligence at the time should have prevented this from happening though.

I would contact ID mobile and tell them.

I usually prefer to either write or email companies when I want to end a contract, that way there is proof positive of your actions. Too late now, though, I know.

It seems strange that ID mobile did not contact you about the missed payments at the time.

So the best thing to do is phone them to ask -

    (1) why they didn't cancel your contract when you phoned and also -

    (2) why they didn't let you know about the missed payments at the time.

If the missed payment information is showing on your credit reports, you will have to contact the company to ask them to rectify the situation.

  • Make a formal complaint to them in writing (email or whatever) saying you rang up at X time (check your phone records if possible) and ask for them to explain why this wasn't cancelled as requested. They should have some notes though call recordings would be long gone - you might need to DSAR them if they won't play ball. You can escalate a complaint to the ombudsman after either a deadlock letter or 8 weeks
