Lidl Plus Card .Not a good deal.

Lidl Plus Card has now become the Lidl Minus Card. I have noticed that Lidle has made drastic changes to its loyalty card. Previously you only had to spend £200.00a month to qualify for a £10.00 voucher off your next bill. now to get the same benefit you have to spend £350.00 a month. anyone else noticed this?

Still better than Tesco Clubcard where the default is 1p back for every £1, so £350 only gets you £3.50 (unless you convert to use somewhere else but that still only triples it to £10.50).
  • Yes, I mentioned this in the Lidl sticky.  Instead of £10 off my £250 total shop I now get 10% of my next shop and I spend between £45 - £65 so not so good.  I suppose if they are still the cheapest supermarket (cheaper than Aldi) and if they want to hold prices they are looking to make cost savings.

None of the cards cost anything so just treat any points, cash offers etc as a bonus. Tesco do offer a lot of lower shelf prices to clubcard holders

For maximum benefit, we make sure we just go over the £250 total monthly shop on the last shop of the month. Then, on the first shop of next month when you get 10% off, do a really big shop including all the non perishable items you will need that month. We managed £170 last month and I had trouble maneuvering the trolley! You need a lot of storage space! Remember alcohol does not qualify for the 10% discount. I preferred the old £200 limit, but with food inflation the £250 monthly shop is more achievable especially if there are 5 Fridays in the month.

That's something I hadn't thought about.  It is worth doing an audit of those item that are bought more than once a month.  Kitchen towel and toilet rolls spring quickly to mind, eggs, olive spread, washing machine capsules, bleach, dental chews (for the dogs not us!) are other items.  Things like washing up liquid and kitchen cleaner I buy in bulk from Home Bargains.  Some other perishable items may last a couple of extra weeks.

Unfortunately, I used my 10 per cent last week and I only spent £37, having a lot of food left over from Xmas, so will have to wait a month!

    Thanks.

I have just received Lidl Email previewing this weeks coupons starting tomorrow. I will be buying a lot of the Vemondo Vegan food. This weeks weekly coupon includes a 15% off Vemondo Vegan food. I will also be using my 10% off coupon for exceeding a £250 total spend last month. I suppose it`s too much to hope for to get both discounts?
T&C`s state "Coupon valid 05/01/2023 to 11/01/2023. Full list of items within the product range can be found within the coupon information displayed in the Coupon section of the Lidl Plus app. One time use. When used with coupon giving discount on overall spend in single transaction, coupon is applied first. More than one product or product-range specific coupon relating to same product cannot be activated at same time or used in same transaction"
  • At least you get points for your shopping

Lidl NI offer a freebie - a pack of biscuits or sweets with every shop and a discount on perhaps 10 to 15 items a week

Only its an app - that doesn't work in stores unless you are in the city

So before you shop, you need to open the app, and then tick the offers you are interested in

Only you get to the store, and the offers are not available, or you pick the wrong item ( dont forget the app wont work in store ) so dont get the discount you thought , and the freebies have all gone :)
