Air fryer cooking times

Hi everyone, hopefully I have this in the right place

I have a cook from frozen turkey joint which says 180 degrees fan assisted 200 non fan oven cook for 1 hour 50 minutes

How long & at what temperature should I cook it in an air fryer oven? (I call it an oven as it has 4 metal adjustable trays instead of a draw to cook things on)

Is there a rule for what percentage you can reduce the cooking times of meat?

There are a lot of lists you can download but they don't include a frozen turkey joint that I could find

Thanks

Phil

Someone posted a cooking chart from "A Pinch of Nom" on an airfryer FB page. Can't find it now but if you look up Pinch of Nom airfryer it does give information about converting recipes.

    Sorry can't post links.

I assume you are going to  thaw it first.

    thaw overnight in the fridge

I would assume that it will be similar timings to a chicken joint

  • You drop the temperature by 20oC and then take about a third off the cooking time - and go from there adding more time if needed

Best thing to buy is a meat thermometer - to check the middle

Air frying gives a lot of outside heat from the top so things can look cooked, and be raw underneath

I dont know what functions you have on yours, but if you have bake - start with that, the fan isnt so fierce. Id also turn halfway . Ive never cooked from frozen but I did do a fresh turkey breast in less then an hour, wrapped in bacon and foil, about 160 on roast ( the foil protected it ) then unwrapped and gave it a blast on air fry for colour

If you are on Facebook, search your make and model and their will be a group which is dedicated to your model with lots of help

Does your model include a pressure cooker? Or is it a standalone air fryer?

I find that stuff takes far longer than overnight to defrost in a decent fridge, just a warning.

    Yes, you are right
I was just thinking of cooking something solidly frozen!! and how dangerous that would be.

I remember , years ago, my cousin frantically trying to thaw a frozen chicken in a bowl / bucket of warm water because there were unexpected guests and it was needed for a roast dinner!!! ......panic
