More unusual problems with Prolific/PayPal

This morning I clicked to redeem my small Prolific Balance.   Normally the transactions are successful and arrive 'immediately' in PayPal.  This time, instead of that, this notice came up:  

"£6.20 will be sent to your Paypal account.

Transfers can take up to 5 days to come through, but is typically a lot faster.

Thanks for using Prolific!"

I'm happy to wait but find this change unusual as it has come out of the blue.  I logged in to PayPal but, as expected, the Prolific payment is not there.

Can anyone think why this change in transferring from Prolific to PayPal should come about, please?  (I had problems when I changed my PayPal emal address but thought that had resolved and I checked my Prolific Account and the PayPal email is correct.  Thank you for any ideas.

  • Thanks for replying to my earlier post about the 'unusual/weird' experience with PayPal and payout from Prolific, nd9876 and yupiteru.  The same problem (getting an email with a link to click for payment instead of the usual 'procedure') happened  again this morning when I requested a payout.

    It got me thinking ...   and I now know what the problem was.  Although I had changed my primary email address in PayPal, I had not changed my linked PayPal address in my Prolific Account.  When I checked my Prolific Account and noticed that it still had the 'old' email address for PayPal, I changed it to the new one, now matching the linked PayPal address.  Although I have not requested a Payout since then, think the problem has resolved.

    I had that recently.  It seemed to happen after I had removed (then re-installed) my PayPal app.  After the initial 5 day wait everything went back to being almost instant.

  • Perhaps PayPal are having glitches at the moment. I withdraw from Prolific yesterday and it went through instantly. But when I tried to move it to my bank account it came up with an error message. Tried again and still got the message but it also went to say that my bank account was now locked and I would need to contact PayPal to unlock it! Tried a third time later and it got transferred straightaway! 
  • Thanks very much JGB1955.  It sounds as if it is related to my change of email then.

    That's  really odd, fly-catchers.  I'm glad it went through eventually but three attempts was definitely unusual.
