If you can find any studies by the Hay Group, I would trust these more than most. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Any list such as the OP is requesting are always going to be subject to challenge and understanding how the data set was derived is always a key part to understanding the summary as reported.
Interestingly, none of the reports listed so far in this thread give the best-paying career as "footballer" or "pop star", though we all know there are footballers and pop stars making millions, way outside the indications of the charts in the linked reports. I suspect that the reason is the data set for "footballer" includes everyone from regional leagues where earnings barely cover the cost of attendance right up to Premier League. Similarly, "pop star" does not really exist as a career choice, but "singer" does and that then includes the singer trying to make ends meet at the Dog & Duck every Saturday right up to Lewis Capaldi or whoever.
For the more average member of the public, one of the reports I always feel is presenting a sensible set of data and applicable to the regular worker is this one:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-41693230
That is from 2107 so the average earnings are probably changed since publication but I doubt that the order of earnings has changed much. I also feel there are very few surprises really in that report and certainly nothing that you'd find particularly unbelievable.
The whole question is also probably rather academic for most of us most of our lives.
There is a short period when we are choosing our career paths (or helping children choose their career paths), but outside of that, we really have to go with what we choose.
Even that point when we have choice at the start of life is restricted by individual capabilities and skills. Take someone who loves playing the piano, can't add up, faints at the sight of blood - none of those top five earning options in the BBC article are going to be a choice they'd sensibly make.0
