Hi
I recently found out that eon had placed a default on my account from a property where I was previously resident . I only discovered this when I checked my credit file
I don’t feel this outcome is correct
I have had a ccj removed by the courts after providing the same tenancy agreements
also the police have removed penalty points after I confirmed I was not living at the address
can Anybody advise please what I should do ?

I settled the outstanding bill to stop any further damage to my credit file .
Once I investigated further I realised the property in question was boarded up for a number of years . I had informed eon by phone that I was no longer living at the address .
They also had a correspondence address where they had been writing to me . However I was no longer at this address when they must have wrote to me as I was not in receipt of any letters
after Speaking to a representative at eon they told me that if I provided the tenancy agreements they would remove the default . However after receiving my tenancy agreement they gave me the following response :

My colleague in the Data Share team has now come back to me. The account was updated as settled in June 2022 and the necessary amendments have been made to show this. This will now be updated on your credit file to show as 'paid'.
However the default will not be removed from the credit file as this was valid due the payment performance.
I do apologise that we are unable to remove the default from your credit file, but we do have procedures to follow if payments are not made.

This needs moving to DFW as the posters there are more familiar with this area and you will get the correct advice for next steps then.I suspect they may say that the first problem is that you have accepted the debt however by paying it. For future reference, always check whether a debt being chased it actually payable by you before parting with any money!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

What CRA? You can open a dispute with them.

Disputes much be ironed out with the company concerned, not with a third party.
No point disputing anything with the CRA, as they only publish the information that is given to them.
They will simply go back to Eon, ask them if the information is correct, Eon will confirm it is, and you are back to square one again.
