If you have live abroad (not UK tax resident) in a country with a Double Taxation Treaty with the UK, and there is no local capital gains tax on sale of property.
You then move back to the UK and rent out the property abroad and pay tax locally on the rental income. Would you also have to pay tax in the UK on the rental income? If you sell the property and there is no capital gains tax locally, would you have to pay capital gains tax in the UK?
You then move back to the UK and rent out the property abroad and pay tax locally on the rental income. Would you also have to pay tax in the UK on the rental income? If you sell the property and there is no capital gains tax locally, would you have to pay capital gains tax in the UK?

Yes to both. You will declare foreign tax paid on your U.K. forms and will receive credit for it.kerrick said:If you have live abroad (not UK tax resident) in a country with a Double Taxation Treaty with the UK, and there is no local capital gains tax on sale of property.
