CHEAP 19" ViewSonic TFT Monitor only £199!

Time for me to give something back to the community! Just picked up this Viewsonic 19" monitor from some company called itcomputer for under £209 delivered, now compared to everyone else I checked out, they are the cheapest! Monitor is wall mountable and is analogue and DVI compatible (didnt come with DVI cable butI had one lying around so it didnt bother me too much) but the thing I like the best is the picture quality, damn its brilliant! Nice, bright and vibrant!

Get it here:

ebuyer and dabs.com are doing it for £248!

Just noticed this cool smilie: :money: Now all we need it to say is "show me the money!" lol

I've got two of these monitors and they are actually 16ms and not the 25ms stated.

What should I be looking for, for gaming purposes? 12ms?

A tortoise, what are you on? lol! Not everyone plays games on their computers, my one is for movies, internet browsing, writing letters, coding and large spreadsheet files. Granted, its not the fastest response time but it is a lot cheaper than buying something which has a response time of 12ms or below e.g. the VX924 has a response time of 4ms at a cost of £339!

For gamin purposes, you should look for 16ms or less, ghosting is usally noticable on fast moving games such as third-person shoot'em ups e.g. Doom 3, Half Life 2 etc... The other issue to be aware of is that the resolution of a 19" is the same as that of a 17" i.e. 1280 x 1024, things (especially text) are more clearer and bigger though on a 19".

25ms won't only affect games it will also affect movies. Any fast paced action film will suffer image lag.

Anyway alimul, you seem to know your model numbers very well considering you got it from 'some company called itcomputer', it wouldn't be your company would it ;-)

Hahahaa, I wish it was my company, you tend to pick up on model numbers when you do your research, in the end though, it comes down to cost versus performance/features. In this case i chose the cheaper model.

I think that difference in response time is down to the different ways that manufacturer's measure it. They use 2 different methods which makes the numbers almost meaningless, either way though this monitor is quite out of date now and not really suitable for games / DVDs. You can get better specified monitors for less.
  • I've just brought another one of these monitors for a dual set up and still cannot fault the image quality and style and as for not being good for gaming I strongly disagree as I play every type of game on this monitor and I have no ghosting at all.

Again I must state that this monitor is 16ms and not the 25ms stated.
