Morning
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Very dark damp start to the day. Loads of laying water.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy..
Dinner last night was chicken casserole, mash and veg - very nice it was too. Tonight I'm not sure but will sort when I finish work at lunchtime.
Keep safe and well x

Morning - thanks for starting us off nmlc.No stars this morning, just a lot of low cloud. Last night the sunset was spectacular, swathes of red with patches of pink and blue but the forecast for today is rather rough.Yesterday was a lovely bright day, a cold sun in the cloudless sky. A friend called in on her way past so we caught up over coffee. I hadn't lit the woodburner yet so a hot mug was good in her hands. Later I visited the elderly gentleman, he's so frail still. I took him some malt whisky and cashews nuts both of which he wolfed down. I already knew of his fondness for cashews so was heartened to watch him eating them. After that I returned to type only emptying the DW. My new mugs had been delivered, were now washed and ready to rearrange the cup cupboard today. I watched my recording of Jools Holland's 30th 'birthday bash', the archive footage was so lovely to see again and then live performances from two of my favourites, Robert Plant and Seasick Steve cheered me up enormously.Today is another mystery. 😀Thinking about our poorlies today - especially Marie. Happy Wednesday to all.12

Morning All
Cold but dry for now, when I went to bed last night there was thick fog, thankfully that has cleared this morning.
I was on a roll when I left work yesterday, went to B&M for a roll of sticky back plastic for school, dropped off a bag to the charity shop, took the soft plastics to the recycling bin, bought a couple of stocking fillers and took the stray library book back. Once home I started wrapping - all the DGC's are done and a few others - feeling rather pleased with myself!
Work wasn't too bad yesterday but will be busy today, looks like tomorrow's strike will go ahead but we have to go in (or we don't get paid) so that will give us a chance to get a bit more organised.
Thinking of the poorlies and those struggling. Take care. XX11 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMlC.It looks damp this morning, but doesn't feel as cold.Snoozer, the baby's name is lovely. You need a rest though, looking after everyone takes it out of you, hope you can get a bit of quiet time today.Coxy, I was charmed by your Bay of E and big river parcels! I'm expecting a parcel myself on Friday from the big river.Bella, the parking round your way sounds terrible, we used to have similar problems when our little railway station was updated and more people used the local trains to go to work in Durham and Newcastle. (we are in the middle) It was a nightmare. We've got residents parking now though, where you need a permit between 10 - 11 am, and 2 - 3pm.. That stops the all day parkers but shoppers can still park for an hour or two and we have scratchcard permits for our visitors and tradesmen.. We have to pay for all this, but at least we can get parked.Izzy, better rain than snow where you live! After all my dithering on about sitting room curtains, I've put my existing winter ones up, they make the room warmer. They aren't old, just not quite enough gather when they're closed but it doesn't matter. I'm probably the only one who notices.I went out yesterday, for a bit of shopping and coffee with a friend, then back home to do a few jobs. I had made some mincemeat so that was put into jars, it'll make some lovely mince pies. I'm ashamed to say I've only just made a couple of Christmas puddings, I'm so late this year. Though the cake has been made since the middle of October.Today,I want to nip to Dd's to try the tree skirt on before I put the finishing touches to it. While I'm out I might look at some cushions in Wilko,That's what's planned anyway - hope everyone else has good days today.Take care folks.11

Morning all. Dry at the moment here in Kent. Freezer jiggling today to see what’s in there. Went to see ‘Living’ yesterday, not sure what to think apart from Bill Nighy being absolutely fantastic in his role. Good to support our lovely local independent cinema though.
keep safe and warm everyoneCarolbee11 -
Morning all and thanks for the thread nmlc x
Pink skies this morning but we have rain. Hoping it clears enough later for me to pop out to post another 4 bay of E sales. I also have another big river parcel coming but haven't had confirmation that it's in the locker yet. Can you believe the parcel yesterday was in the uppermost locker and I'm only 5'2" so had to jump up and down to try to retrieve it - typical!
We have leftover chicken curry and rice for tea tonight - must stop cooking for 4!!
The newly announced train strikes will curtail my only work Christmas lunch and also DH will need to drive to Birmingham and back for his 'do'. Not the end of the world but still annoying!
Agree @carolbee that Bill Nighy was fantastic. DH thought it was a bit dull, but the film did get me thinking about things. Especially as I'm a CS!
Lovely to have visitors @Gers and what wonderful goodies to take to your friend in hospital!
Have a good day all and hugs to everyone in need of one.

PS - Coxy, after your post yesterday I clicked in the DR website for a wee look. Ended up ordering some things which are arriving on Friday, it's all so delicious. 🤤 My elderly friend is back home now so everyone is very happy about that.I've taken a large M&S lasagna out of the freezer which will feed me for three days. There's plenty of sprouts and a bag of kale to have with it. Yesterday I made some creamed spinach, tasty but I won't be having it again. It's a bit stringy and gets lodged in between teeth too much for comfort!10

Morning all
Pouring with rain here again, the flooding was just subsiding and will now be back with a vengance, on Monday I saw a car stuck in a flood and a poor AA man standing up to his knees in water trying to fix it.
Two male clients today and one of them has the best sense of humour I often belly laugh when he is here, I am taking them Christmas shopping, one of them is the one who's mum takes all his money so I have been given a budget which I am to hold onto and we have a list, I think its the first time he has ever had a day out Christmas shopping, I asked for a bit extra so that I can buy him lunch in the golden arches, I am very much looking forward to the day, we will bring the presents back here and wrap them and I will keep them here until nearer Christmas so that mum cant get her hands on them.
I am making beef stifado for dinner which is something we had in Greece and we loved, I am not sure mine will be as good as the Greek people make it but we will see, I shall get some crusty bread to have with it.
DW has been emptied this morning and I need to have a quick tidy round.
Snoozer lovely name hope you manage to get a rest xx
Gers are your new cups nice and thin ? if so could you possibly send me a link ? xxx
Have good days all xxx11 -

Morning all. Raining! Surprise! I put the carpet piece I pciked up outside to wash itself in the rain...Friend came early yesterday for tea and then we went shopping , when I got back, i thought we were going to OHs mums, got my days wrong, that's actually today, so when I woke up from post dinner nap I made another couple of Christmas cakes. and I remembered [ weird to say that] hoq to cook a meal that wasn't a roast or one pan wonder, a 'normal' meal, so we had fishcakes, cabbage and broccoli...Forgotten how much I like fishcakes. ANyway, today I am intent on starting to sort out downstairs, it's amazing how little time it takes me to go from reasonably tidy to utter car crash. Doesn't help that Fatty has chewed egg boxes to smithereens...keeps him from chasing his sister though so all good....Ruby, when we were in Italy I saw these type mugs in one of the supermarkets, they are exceptionally thin..love them..https://www.amazon.co.uk/ComSaf-Borosilicate-Beverages-Drinking-Birthday/dp/B0957FJYQ7/ Enjoy your belly laughing day. Gers, nuts and cooze sound like the perfect gift With the spinach, use frozen stuff, it's already chopped so not stringy.. Hope your mouth is better. Scarlet/Bella,I'velived by schools twice and I can confidently say that the parents of the children who park there are, for the most part, the most obnoxious entitled selfish gits I have ever met. Izzy, hope you had a good result Nels, hope your stop-!!!!!! got sorted...snoozer, nice name, very Biblical... SHout ot the MIA, hope you're all OK, and the fed up...Take care...
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...10 -
Morning everyone
It was really foggy here when I went to bed but has cleared this morning. Yesterday it rained on and off all day with some very showers.
I'm not at work today so I'll pop down to mam and dads for a cuppa this morning and then I'm taking little one to the library this afternoon. We usually go on a Saturday but she's at her daddys this weekend.
Redruby - enjoy your day - it's a really worthwhile job you're doing - your client is going to be so happy buying his own Christmas presents.
Camelot - well done, I wish I was as organised!
Gers - good news that your friend is home
Well I'm going to get some jobs done. I seem to be having a very achy week so it will just be the dishes washed and a quick hoover - little kitten has bits of pom pom all over the floor.
have a good day everyone x8
