I have tried Aldi 1kg bacon in the past. I cook bacon in the microwave between sheets of kitchen roll as recommended, Oven is too expensive to use. I suspect it was full of water, there was more steam, I ate more paper than bacon as it got stuck. Lol. I tried frozen veg, cheaper but less in the bag. I am more than happy with Tesco but if the difference in price was greater than a few percent I might change. I guess it's not.

I would suggest you have a trip to Aldi at a quiet time- no, I don't know when that is!!

I always did my main shop at Tesco- 30 mile round trip until COVID struck... then I discovered that Aldi had some really good stuff, we had a newish shop in town and it had better prices.

So, I still shop at Mr T  but now maybe only once a month and the rest is at Aldi . If there is a price match in Tesco on something I would buy then I get the points but last time I went I was overwhelmed by the size of the store and the choice!

The fruit & veg might not last quite as long from Aldi but if they are still in date take the items back- no quibble on refunds or, if I remember rightly, if you buy something of their own brand and don't like it you get your money back so you could be brave and try some new items!!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Personally I can get almost everything I need in Aldi. I find about 2. 30 pm fairly quiet as school pick up time. But I don't mind calling in somewhere else for anything extra (like less common herbs and spices) when necessary.

This doesn't help @MikeJXE though as he's only prepared to go to one shop. I think if I only spent £20 a week and was satisfied with the products in a little Tesco (or anywhere else) then I'd do the same.

Two of us. We do a big shop twice a month mainly in Aldi and Tesco, but may also call in to Lidl, Asda or Morrison's as they're all close to each other. A few months ago after a £40ish shop in Aldi I took the receipt and shopped online (obviously without going to checkout) at Tesco for the nearest equivalent of each item... it worked out over £10 dearer. Proved to us that although Tesco keep on about price-matching Aldi it all depends on what you're buying. We especially like the taste and price of Aldi plant-based sausages and sausage rolls, blueberry soya yoghurt and decaf coffee over the more expensive Tesco equivalents.

Question depends on what you buy, even for £20 a week. We changed to Aldi a few months back from Asda and Sainsburys and not looked back; there isn't much we aren't perfectly happy with Aldi ranges. For example, their frozen chicken breasts are tasty, not rubbery and only £3.79 a kilo - cheap.
So point is it may be worth going to your Aldi as variation to Tesco and see what you think.

Have you tried the stores saver range of beans and other items? If it's the taste being a bit sweeter that you like, then you can always add a bit of sugar or salt to the basic ranges. I add a bit of margarine to my Lidl baked beans to make the sauce creamier.

Yes I have a club card. £87 is almost a month shopping for me and I wouldn't buy that much at once anyway, milk doesn't last that long for a start
Have you tried the UHT milk a litre can be cheaper than a litre of non UHT milk and won't go off as quick as the regular milk?

I was adamant, no way would I ever go to 2 shops, Someone on here posted 1kg frozen chicken fillets 3.79 at Aldi, I didn't care thats what i paid at Tesco. Never say never, I'm doing my shop in Tesco, no 1kg cereal, chicken fillets 1kg 5.70. No way am I buying them when Aldi is across the road. Walking up the Aldi isle I hear a lady say to her friend don't buy fresh chicken here it's cheaper in Tesco, I find the chicken fillets at 1kg 3.75 so I get 2 bags. So even the devoted Tesco shopper can be convinced there is another way.

Every time I go to aldi there are all ways several large pallets of assorted groceries abandoned in the way of way I need to get. rather than stay there and unload it and put it on the shelf, they just leave it there and walk off, dragging the pallet truck behind them. must be part of the training. asked one of the staff once why they don't do shelf filling at night, but he didn't know. so I walked off and went to sainsburys instead.

Surely the answer @clive0510 is that, if Aldi don't employ night staff, it keeps costs down. 🤔

You'll be paying for the Sainsburys night staff along with your groceries.

Personally I'll happily work around a pallet instead.
