Best value heated throw?

  • We just have an old double duvet on the sofa. Warms up very quickly and we don't need the heating on!

I can't comment on best value but in 2013 I got  a Dreamland faux fur heated throw and wouldn't be without it. It is a bit heavier than some but it is cosy without switching on and heats up quickly when switched on. At the time it cost £99 which equates to costing £10 a year. I regard that as good value and over the years it has saved me a lot on heating costs. One of my best buys.

This year I also purchased a Dreamland electric over blanket, again not cheap but lovely to wrap around myself as I lay in bed. Much nicer than the heated matress protector I had before that only warmed the parts of me that were laying on it. If it lasts as long as the faux fur heated throw.

Do any of these get heated using a powerpack, or are they all mains powered? There aren't any power sockets near any of my chairs.

I would be really pleased to know about good heated items that do not require a mains cord. Perhaps a gilet rather than a throw, though would also like to know about throws.
  • There are battery powered heated jackets and gilets available but I have never seen battery powered throws.

Mine have long cables, so can reach far away sockets if needed.  You could also add in a power strip with an extension lead.  The heated gilets I've seen have little power packs which you insert into a pocket.
