I'm not - a relative who works for a university which is in the TPS asked for my help reviewing these things.
You would wonder why schools do not appear to do this when it benefits both parties. Ours not to wonder why...
  • Interesting, but my wife’s contributions are also via a new university so I’m guessing wouldn’t have the option of salary sacrifice but I’ll make sure she asks.

I also appreciate that there are a plethora of different options to vanguard. I only picked them for ease given we have other investments with them, others seem to rate them and performance wise they didn’t appear too bad either. It’s more that it gets us into putting more aside rather than frittering it away on the unknown and thus give us a better chance in retirement to be fair.

    Thanks all.
  • When I looked into this for my wife, my conclusion was ether was absolutely no advantage to the AVC scheme.  Just disadvantages.  So she went with an independent SIPP.
  • The only advantage would be saving on national insurance IF the employer lets you do salary sacrifice, which not all employers let you do
