Free trees (Charnwood residents)

We have teamed up with our partner idverde to bring back our free tree scheme, and people have until Monday November 28 to apply

The scheme will result in 4,000 free trees being given to residents, community groups and parish councils across Charnwood.

All residents need to do is book their free tree online.

Each household, community group and parish council can request up to two trees and there is a choice of four varieties:

• Crab apple
• Hazel
• Rowan
• Silver Birch

Trees will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and distributed from two locations in the borough on the following dates:

• Saturday December 3, 10am-2pm – Derby Road Playing Fields, Loughborough, LE11 5FJ

• Sunday December 4, 10am-2pm– Hallam Fields Cricket Pavillion, Long Meadow Way, Birstall, LE4 3LL.

The trees will be approximately 20cm – 40cm when they are collected. Each resident who applies for a free tree will be given a guide on how to look after them properly.  

idverde manages the borough’s parks and open spaces on behalf of the Council.

How to order your free trees

You will need an email address to place an order for your free trees. If you have not already got an account, please select continue when prompted to do so. You will then receive your email confirmation with instructions on how to create an account if you wish to do so.

These trees are free and there is no cost associated throughout the order process therefore please ignore the £0.00 (incl.VAT).

Once you have selected the location you wish to collect your tree/s, you will be able to select a maximum quantity of up to two trees in the ‘Optional Extras’.

If you don’t have an email address and need help to create one you can visit our Customer Service Centre and our team will be glad to help you do this.
