OP, see Molerat's post above.
Are you saying that all years to 2012 are shown as full?

If Daughter is only receiving class 3 credits from CB and not qualifying under her own steam then there is unfortunately nothing for Grandma to claim under the Specified adult credit scheme. If she is likely to earn more and pay National insurance in the next few years however, Grandma can then claim the credits and as she only needs two years, assuming Grandchild will be under 12.0

I claim this from my daughters child benefit credits as I also do childcare for my grandchildren but she is employed under PAYE so doesn't need them. From the sound of it the OPs daughter needs her child benefit credits as she is self employed so they are not available to transfer to your wife. I think it costs around £800 for each extra year so your wife would have to pay that but it may not be worth paying for the second missing year as it does not add much to the weekly pension when she gets it.NannaH said:Does she provide care for any Grandchildren, take them to school etc. ?
If so she can claim back to 2011 from the (working tax payer) parent who receives Child Benefit.
It’s called Specified adult childcare credits and has to be claimed every year, although if she can claim for the last 2 years it will only need to be the once.If there are any mods lurking - Wouldn’t it be helpful to have a sticky at the top with this very useful information?
So many people don’t know about the credits, by being able to claim against my Daughter’s CB, it will save me well over £5000 in extra NI payments!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
