I would certainly cook it in the slow cooker.
I might be tempted to semi joint it beforehand. then you could roast the legs...
The last time I cooked bone in/ skin on thighs I used tin of tomatoes. long squirt of kallo paste & tsp (1 or 2?) ras el hanout. (and the bed of carrot & onion) it was very good (SC)
The last time I had a whole chicken I got it cheep cheep (sorry) and could only cook it in the oven. It came in a roasting bag. After roast hot x 2, salad cold x 2, ham & chicken pie, jelly for gravy the only thing that got thrown was the fat (not keen) & the bones. All the teeny bits made dried dog food so much more exciting for 2 hungry hounds. They will do tricks if chicken is on offer!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I use a piece of oven liner cut to shape on the bottom when I’m using the rack, and also a suitably sized enamel bowl under the rack to catch juices/fat. I also cook smaller portions in an enamel dish or bowl (I’ve just done cauliflower cheese main course this evening and very pleased with it).If you like liver, I’ve found it excellent, much better than frying or grilling.
I do like liver, can’t seem to buy it locally anymore so don’t have it so often. How do you cook it?You’re right, liver is difficult to get hold of nowadays, there’s a local butcher where I can buy lamb’s and calves’ liver, but the nearest farm shop (on an actual farm) seldom has it.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Tesco's often have lambs liver but definitely not seen any calves liver anywhere not even at the butchers!

Couple of years ago, before food prices started going crackers, I used to buy it from the local Coop reduced to about 22p a pack. There was always plenty for the freezer since it’s not exactly popular. They don’t sell it now and Aldi have stopped doing it too.0

Morrissons sell liver online , as do Ocado and Marks and Spencer. At this time of year it's difficult to find in the shops as they are filling their shelves with Christmas goodies ( high profit lines )1
