Looking for somewhere to do GCSE Maths? Newcastle.

I’m trying to find some where in Newcastle where I can do GCSE maths or online learning?

The only ones I have seen it’s really attending collage for a few hours a week, which is hard to fit into my schedule.

Ideally self learn with books and just for the private test?

Any help would be great.

Does it have to be gcse? Most people who need to tend to do level 2 functional skills instead

I’m looking for a career change, I have GCSE in others but need higher in maths. Can you I use both both GCSE and level 2 functional skills to apply for courses and apprenticeships?

I assume you are an "adult" in Higher Education terms - their definition of "adult" may vary from what normal definitions of "adult" would be.

If so, in our area at least, there are free courses available, usually accessible via Job Centre or via "Community Colleges" under "Skills for Life" (or whatever similar name the programme is referred to locally).  I know where we are the "Community Colleges" seems to be the term within the education system for establishments offering these courses to "adults", but this might vary.  The provision locally seems very flexible with options for online, classroom and community (e.g. libraries) learning venues.

I hope that helps - and hope the advice is sufficiently transferable as different local authorities no doubt all have different schemes with different terminology and eligibility.

Yes, I work in apprenticeships and for us a GCSE at c or above/4 or above or a functional skills level 2 is required.

Although if course an employer can require a higher level of they wish, that is the minimum requirement for us.

I'd start by having a chat with the local colleges, although their scheduled classes may not work for you they might be able to signpost, or facilitate taking the test.

You may have already contacted them, but if not I'd suggest this as your starting point - I'm currently studying GCSE Maths Higher through the equivalent here in Birmingham and it's an online course (I already have Maths O-level but that was taken 48 years ago and I wanted to brush up on my skills having recently retired).
