Shame on you Tesco - Clubcard Vouchers for Charity

Options
MSE Weekly Money Tips 16.11.2022 included a trick to extend your vouchers by spending a small amount eg on a restaurant voucher, and the change is credited to your balance giving you another 2 years to use it. I have been doing this for a while now by donating a small amount to one of the charities Tesco Clubcard supports and have just done so for my vouchers expiring this month. I was very disappointed to see that for 50p worth of vouchers the charity only receives 50p instead of the £1.50 Tesco previously offered. Shame on you Tesco, at a time when all charities are struggling you have withdrawn the 3X face value that you offer for other reward partners. After all if we spent our vouchers anywhere else you would have to stump up the extra! Please re-consider this penny pinching decision, after all you are making good profits at the moment and charities need all the help they can get

I'm not replying to your post directly because I have never donated to a charity via Tesco points, however, that does seem very penny pinching on their part.

However I would just point out that if your vouchers are about to expire phone up the helpline.  I had quite an amount that I am saving for a ferry crossing for later next year (and that's pretty much all I have ever done with the points except during Covid) I asked that the vouchers be cancelled and sum added to the next mailing. Ok, she wasn't the happiest .saying 'We want you to spend them!" but I pointed out what I was saving for and they were cancelled and they appear in my total points now.
